The Original European Lines
The Original European Release (or OER for short) is the only Zoids line outside of Japan to have a truly detailed backstory - this was published by Marvel Comics in their Spiderman and Zoids series. The comic details the raging war on Zoidstar between the Blue Zoids (led by Zoidzilla) and the mutant Red Zoids (led by Redhorn the Terrible). Krark, a rogue Red Zoid, adds another faction to the fray as he attempts to unite all Zoids behind him in order to acheive his vision of total Galactic control whilst a group of stranded humans from their crashed Earth Ship The Celeste team up with the last remaining Zoidaryan, 'the Namer,' in an attempt to escape the planet.
Interestingly, all OER Zoids have two variants, one that was produced in Singapore and one that was produced in Japan. Singaporian Zoids' differences are as follows:
Red Mutants - the red armour is more red with less of the pink pigment and the silver armour is usually darker and less metallic. Any black parts appear lighter in colour than those of their Japanese counterpart.
Blue Zoids - Black parts are darker in colour and appear more glossy. Any silver parts are lighter in colour, battery connectors in the motor are usually gold instead of silver and the rubber caps are of a slightly different design.
In addition, each variant came with a small sheet of translated instruction steps for use with the main instruction booklet (step one on the sheet would be a translation of step one in the booklet and so on).
Lastly, several mould changes can be found on the variant Zoids (although for the most part these are very minor changes such as Gore's grey semi-circular back piece having a different shaped mounting socket). Unfortunately, parts are often incompatible between the 2 versions.
