there is no way on earth I'm letting a six year old watch a film about skeletons which appear in moonlight ! I really hope you're kidding. I've heard images of skeletons are banned in China...

Snowflake - you've never seen Pirates of the Caribbean ? Apologies for the spoiler. You should definitely watch the first one, it is absolutely brilliant. The second and third are a bit weaker, as most sequels are, but still fun. The forth installment came out a few weeks ago in the UK, but I'll probably wait for the dvd.
Its just odd that the films are all rated 12A yet Lego make sets aimed at kids 6+. By the time they get to 12, I'd imagine most kids would have lost interest in Lego, while kids under 12 SHOULD have no idea what it is. While they are great fun for older kids, there are elements which I'd imagine would give younger kids nightmares. Kinda like Dr Who.

Pirates! (a little off topic, I suppose) - I just saw the 4th installment as part of a double feature, and I think I liked it a bit more than 2 and 3. And, no, I would not let my children watch those films for many years! Disney seems to think if we add tongue in cheek humor that it's okay to watch rotting sailors get run through, stab people to death, and plunder the innocent. And, yes, it's an excellent film for discerning adults that love great fiction and effects.
Hell, 101 Dalmatians gave my 4 year old nightmares... to us it's a classic, fun, Disney movie! To her it's about a horrible, evil woman seeking to kill a bunch of puppies that are torn from their mommy!
It's tough to see things from the eyes of a child, isn't it?

Am I the only one that remembers Robocop and Aliens action figures? We didn't use to shelter kids so much.. But yeah, you can get nightmares from anything.. I got STAR TREK nightmares but was fine after Total Recall

As much as I appreciate the discussion my thread is getting, lets get it back to zoids! (and or legos ) And I will do just that by introducing my latest review! It's a zoid this time as promised. Wait, no, this isn't right. This is an Elephantus with Molga's CP attached to it?! Looks like an old school death dealing machine....moving on.... There we go! Today the Zoid I'm choosing to review is Neptune, and it is one of the rare and unique 1/24 scale zoids. Now, I never had much interest when I was first began collecting zoids for the 1/24 scaled models, but now, I think they're great and cool addition to the zoids universe. The fact that some of them are super duper ridculously rare isn't good for my bank account though....but anyways, Neptune is a great build, though I do caution you all to take great care with the large, clear purple hood piece, as it does seem like it could break very easily. Here's the highly poseable pilot of Neptune, and the not as possible part of my hand in the corner holding him up. I really love this pilot, when I say poseable, I mean it. You could have him pilot Neptune while doing a handstand if you so wanted. The amount of detail on him is very surprising. Here's the back of the zoid, to give you all a better idea of how Neptune looks all around. It's well armed for its small size. Well there you have it. Another review in the books! Also, my Neptune is the rerelease, not the original.

the 1/24 guys never did anything for me, but they are nice kits. Am I the only one that reMembers Robocop and Aliens action figures? We didn't use to shelter kids so much.. But yeah, you can get nightmares from anything.. I got STAR TREK nightmares but was fine after Total Recall I had ALL the original Aliens figures, and I loved them dearly. I adored the toys and the movies, but The Fly movie bothered me greatly.

I still have the original 18" Alien... now that figure I find more disturbing than all of the action figures that came years later. On one hand, I think you are right, we didn't used to shelter kids so much. On the other hand, I don't think there was nearly as much to shelter them from... movies, effects, language, levels and intensity of violence and sex, all of these things have escalated by leaps and bounds over my lifetime of 40 years, and more of it is seen as appropriate for kids. Not long ago, Pirates of the Caribbean would have been rated "R" for violence and gore. I'm not sure if that's progress, but I would like the freedom to decide what my kids see. As long as I have that power, you can make any movies and TV shows you like. ***BACK TO THE TOPIC!!!*** I have an OJR Neptune... and modified it! I changed its scale to 1/72 a long time ago. It's a nice kit on its own; I like the dual position gunner and the sleek form. Still wish I had Megatropos and Gorem.

Still wish I had Megatropos and Gorem. Man, I would kill for those. Talk about some rare zoids. There was a Golgola/Zelve on Ebay...for five hundred bucks. As much as I'd kill to have that zoid, thats just way too much money.....

those command zoids are so interesting.. not only are they the first zoids we got in two different scales (way before minifigures), but you can really see them as the jeeps and tanks of planet zi, rumbling through jungles too dense for a regular small zoid, that they don't want flattened by a full-sized zoid, but which a proper car wouldn't be able to get through.. Of course they all put the pilot at great risk (we didn't use to shelter pilots so much! heehee) it'd be interesting to see a full-on battle with swarms of these trying to attack larger zoids..

Snowflake, you just found my biggest pet peeve of the anime series'. I hated how they just threw in cars, trucks and buses into the same world with larger zoids. Wouldnt they just have other types of zoids to do the same duties??? I keep picturing things like a freeway in the city full of cockroach zoids with six passengers zooming to work...or swan or duck zoids coasting through a channel with a cute couple riding a bench on it's back like a gondola. The manga had certain other types of zoids like this. One character had an insect zoid wheelchair, they had a wind energy dragonfly zoid on a tower...etc. Where was that wonderful imagination in the cartoon series???

Well now let's be fair. The old diorama playsets included little trucks and humanoid mechs, so the anime were okay in using both.. and the commandzoids had disappeared from fiction during the era one anime was set in, and SURELY by the other since it was even further in the future.. to be replaced neatly by blox zoids, then those one-blox that ended up being replacement commandzoids.. oh, and the SS zoids

Another day, another review! Today I have somethign special for you all, a zoid that I have spent an immense time trying to track down and aquire. Ever since I played Zoids: Battle Legends, when I first discovered this zoid, I knew I had to have it. I guess you could call it one of my Holy Grail Zoids, and its not the typical Holy Grail type, if you're thinking Bloody Death Saurer, etc. Nope, for me, I wanted.... Iron Kong Yeti! This is one of the best limited edition zoids ever released, in my opinion. It is also my first (and only so far) Iron Kong. I had always been trying to get an Iron Kong, but it seems theyre one of the most overpriced models of zoids out there. But then, luckily for me, fellow Member ardius's zoids needed a new home, and he was able to send me this Iron Kong. Building this guy was really fun, easily some of the msot fun I've had constructing a zoid. And the color scheme is fantastic. I can jsut imagine this guy charging through the Arctic. In addition to his facebreaking fists, Iron Kong is loaded with weapons. He's got to be loaded, if I reMember correctly in the Battle Story, Iron Kong was built to combat Gojulas. In the anime, Iron Kong was shown as a powerful zoid, but it rarely lived up to that power because it seemed the requirement to pilot an Iron Kong was to be totally incompetent. Two pilots! Overall, I give this zoid my strongest recommendation. Even if just for the fantastic art on the box it comes in. Beats the pants off the hasbro boxes, that's for sure.

According to the anime, the only competent pilots are children and mercenaries

One of the most gorgeous Kongs... and one I still don't own. Great shots of the Yeti with nice labeling. One day I'll have to grab this sucker!

The Yeti is a worthy holy grail. Brilliant color scheme worthy of being worn by an Iron Kong! And they seem to be getting just as scarce as the Bloody Deathy. But I have heard of the Yeti having molding issues with the head connectors.
