I could've sworn I saw a thread that related to this, but I can't seem to find it. Anyhow, in that previous thread (that I may have imagined) it linked to the unofficial continuation of the Zoids manga by Michiro Ueyama: homepage3.nifty.com/ueyamam/manga.htmlBack in 2005/6 he compiled chapters 1-5 and the two extras and turned them into two self published books. (Unofficial doujinshi by the author of the official manga...) So that buyers weren't essentially paying for something they could read for free online, the books have some extra tidbits, one of which are character profiles. So for anyone who's interested, some of the bare bones info: Name the way he romanizes it Age/Height/Weight Bang Freiheit 14 / 158 cm / 48 kg Fine 14~15 (approximately) / 157 cm / 43 kg Irvine Cavaliere 18 / 181 cm / 77 kg Moon-Bay Me Javal 17 / 166 cm / 53 kg Raven 15 / 161 cm / 49 kg Donny Chen 15 / 160 cm / 50 kg Michael Su 23 / 168 cm / 59 kg Melissa Su 10 / 133 cm / 32 kg Louise Teresa Camford 53 / 171 cm / 64 kg Rob Harmann 24 / 186 cm / 81 kg

It would appear manga Camford is a couple inches taller than her modelverse counterpart. Huh. (Though the middle name does imply Not Elena, so...)
*points and snickers at Raven for being as short as his minifig would suggest*
Where'd you get ahold of the doujins? I wouldn't mind copies myself, even if no furigana dooms me to not reading much.

I think I may have snagged these off toranoana.jp or dmonger.com, unfortunately neither seem to have it anymore. Sadly gen-ish Zoids doujinshi (or even just CC/GF based ones) seems pretty hard to find nowadays.

The CC manga never really did conclude, did it? Awfully nice of Ueyama to toss fans a bone, as it were. SCANLATE! SCANLATE!

Indeed this is quite a view. Can't wait for a translation for a read! I have only recently begun to have an interest in Manga and this . . . starts to make me think I should delve into the Zoids Universe Manga and Doujinshi.
Of course the Zoids H Manga are rampant everywhere <sigh>. There's only so many ways to draw that stuff.
Is there a manga with Kotona? I'm quite curious about her from admassc's post in the Zoids Motivational Poster thread. --gawd that was funny--

Looks like a loose collection of random stories. Interesting, but I wouldn't say it's a must-have, especially since I didn't really think the Chaotic Century comics were all that great to begin with (uninteresting new characters and inferior revision of the original story).
Love looking at the artwork though, so thanks for posting this.

I liked the CC manga a lot more, personally. Raven's character was far more believeable and actually changed over the course of the story in a less switch-flippy way.
Pity about the US release being in so many volumes, though D:.

Yeah, I figured you'd feel that way - it seems the Chaotic Century cartoon is your least favorite of all the Zoids iterations, cartoon or otherwise. (Why is that, anyway? I'd like to know.)
Personally, I feel that the Chaotic Century comic has a lot of problems - as mentioned above - and Raven's character is definitely one of them. His character strikes me as very irritating - he does nothing but say over and over again that Zoids need to die before disappearing halfway through the story. All of his character development is crammed into the final pages of the last volume, where his history and his change in attitude are forced down the reader's throat. It's an awkward way to present that side of his character, and definitely makes for an abrupt and extremely unsatisfying conclusion to the series. (Man, I am so glad the cartoon didn't go this route.)
The cartoon show did a much better job here. Raven says that he hates Zoids just enough to get the point across (that is, once), and we also see that he has contempt for other things (including the Republic and other pilots) - he's a cynical person, not just a guy who hates Zoids. The show's pacing allows the viewer to see that he comes to respect Van as a pilot, even if reluctantly, and it also allows Raven's character to gradually change over the course of the series (something that you said occurred in the comics, which as far as I'm concerned is plainly false). He eventually acknowledges his past after Shadow's injury and comes to grips with it on his own terms.
I could probably go on, but I won't. The point is that the cartoon's take on Raven's character is much better realized than the comic's and as a result he's a much better villain and a more effective foil for Van.

I have the complete opposite view of anime Raven, right down to similar arguments XD. I don't think either of us will convince the other there...
As for CC itself, it alternates between "not my thing" and wallbanger (that scene with Van brushing off death following heroes and it never being mentioned again drove me BONKERS, either address that properly or don't bring it up!) for me...and since I like most of the characters, that's more argh for me than the general "not my thing" vibe Genesis gave me. There's also the added frustration of people muddling it and the battle story, but that's not the show's fault at all. It's more part of why I might seem tetchier than I actually am.
